Macademia nut supplies are expected to remain fairly stable this year despite new plantations coming on stream. Earlier traders expected a 10% increase in the South African crop but a combination of drought in some areas and downpours in others appears to have resulted so far in a drop in the ratio of sound kernels recovered, relative to nut counts on the trees. Australia's crop might also be nearer 35,000 tonnes than initial estimates of up to 39,000.
