An instructive volume from two key Chinese historians of the Cold War, this study highlights the role of domestic factors in the dynamics of Chinese foreign policy. For example, the Sino-Soviet split is traced to Chinese domestic developments - from the rise of the Anti-Rightist Movement to the emergence of the Great Leap Forward -rather than to differences on international issues.
