APT high-speed test vehicle saved

As part of the APT programme in the mid-1960s, a four-wheel high-speed freight vehicle (HSFV1) was built. Numbered as Departmental No. RDB511023, it was regularly hauled at 100mph. Latterly owned by Serco, it was going to be scrapped at Derby but has now been donated to the APT-E Conservation and Support Group, which assists the NRM with maintaining the APT-E at Locomotion, Shildon.
