First Class 70 to arrive in November

The first two of Freightliner's new 'Powerhaul' Class 70 locomotives have completed their testing phase and were due to be moved from General Electric's Erie plant to Lambert's Point, Virginia, for shipment to the UK early in October. The two are due to arrive at Newport early in November.rnMore than 170 tests have been carried out, including ride trials, gauging, and electromagnetic compatibility using GE's four-mile long test track.rnConstruction of a further four locomotives is ongoing with delivery planned for roughly a month later. This second batch is the first to be given Freightliner's revised livery (see page 5).
