NR targets 1,800 jobs and 'cuts track inspections'

Network Rail has revealed plans to cut 1,800 maintenance roles... just a day after unveiling proposals for a £34biilion high-speed line between London and Scotland.rnThe rail operator told staff it was preparing to shed more than 15 per cent of its maintenance staff between now and April 2011. Union leaders say it has already scaled back the frequency of track inspections on some routes.
