'Cromwell' diverted Bletchley to Bedford

The Railway Touring Company had advertised its July 11 'The Yorkshireman' trip to York using BR Pacific No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell as running from Mill Hill and Midland Main Line stations to York. However, engineering workrnon the Midland Main Line caused the train to be rerouted from West Coast Railway's base at Southall via Willesden Junction to pick up passengers at Watford Junction, Bletchley and Bedford before gaining thernoriginally-planned MML route. This marked the first steam on this stretch of the West Coast route since October last year when fellow 5305LA stablemate No. 30777 Sir Lamiel travelled from Carnforth to Southall via Willesden.
