History was made on July 25 when Gresley A4 No. 60019 Bittern became the first member of the class to run on the main line with two tenders.rnMaking its debut on 'The Brighton Belle', a charter organised by the 5BEL Trust (see above), the water-carrier rode and performed faultlessly from King's Cross to York and back and enabled the Gresley Pacific to make the longest nonstop steam run in Britain since 1968.rnThe ten-coach train left London at 09.18, and Potters Bar (where it picked up passengers) at 09.48. It then ran non-stop to a scheduled halt in Carlton loop, north of Newark, at 11.54... 126 miles in exactly 126 minutes.
