The railway heritage movement has achieved many notable feats over the years, some of them belonging to the near 'Mission Impossible' category, but, as the front cover of last month's issue revealed, there is now a new member of that exclusive club ... a streamlined 'Duchess'.rnFor those people lucky enough to be at the National Railway Museum on May 19, the thrill of seeing a re-created icon of the past being unveiled will be remembered for many a long year. There are not many alive today who actually saw a streamlined 'Duchess' in action and, until recently, the prospect of seeing one again was just an item near the top of everyone's wish-list.rnNow, thanks to the vision of a number of individuals and organisations, that's one very big item that can be ticked off the list - for ex-LMS Stanier Pacific No. 6229 Duchess of Hamilton is once again resplendent in 1930s-style LMS livery and looks absolutely stunning . . . arguably as much an icon for the future as the past!
