The history of the 'Brighton Belle'

The London, Brighton & South Coast Railway's links with the Pullman company date back to 1875. Within six years, it had launched Britain's first all-Pullman train - the 'Pullman Limited Express', which ran between London and Brighton via Horsham. It consisted of four cars built at the Pullman Car Company workshops in Derby. The passengers were not only fed royally, but also enjoyed, for the first time on rails, the luxury of electric lighting.
