Linked galas at York and Shildon I

WHILE the LMS ruled in York for the NRM's September 24-25 LMS Steam Weekend, Locomotion's Steam Gala on the same dates carried a GWR flavour. This was the first cross-site venture for the NRM's two locations, with main line links between the two sites worked by No. 5972 Olton Hall (Hogwarts Castle), 'Black Five' No. 45305, LMS 'Princess Royal' No. 6201 Princess Elizabeth and Class 47 No. 47798. At York, locomotives in steam (in addition to the main line locos between turns) were the West Coast Railway Company's 8F No. 48151 Gauge O Guild, 'Royal Scot' No. 46115 Scots Guardsman, Ivatt 2-6-2T No. 41241 and Fairburn 2-6-4T No. 42085 - the latter pair handing the yard shuttles.
