Olympia services to be withdrawn

LONDON Underground is to withdraw weekday services to Kensington Olympia from December. The station will continue to be servec by Underground trains on weekends and during selected special events. The change is intended to boost services on the Wimbledon branch instead, where many trains run full whili those on the Olympia branch are underused. LU says the move will reduce delays and provide capacity for 4,000 more passengers on the Wimbledon branch. However, local councillors in Kensington are concerned the changes will make it harder for visitors to travel to Olympia, especially after the Earl's Court Exhibition Centre closes next year London TravelWatch has warned that closure of the wheelchair-accessible Olympia station would force passenger; to take "long and inconvenient diversions".
