4-COR 3142 carries first passengers for 30 years

THE Southern Electric Group's 4-COR motor coach, No.S11161S,from set No. 3142, ran in passenger service for the first time in about 30 years when it was used during the East Kent Railway's EMU ' weekend on September 17-18 Previous operation was as loco-hauled stock on the Nene Valley Railway. It has received considerable attention over the summer to prepare it for use as hauled/propelled stock, but is still mainly in unrestored state. It ran on four return trips from Shepherdswell each da; (RM Oct p94) with motive power provided by Class 09 No. 09025 and MLV No. S68001 on battery power.
