'Chopper'returns to Wirksworth

CLASS 20 Locomotive Society's historic No. D8001 (the second of the class) returned to the Ecdesbourne Valley Railway on September 19 following an extensive and expensive engine and generator overhaul at Boden Rail Engineering, Washwood Heath. In view of the amount of work done, it was initially confined to Wirksworth station area for gentle running-m. Crompton No. 33035 was due to make its debut on EVR passenger trains on October 22-23, including runs on the 1 -in-27 Ravenstor incline. Rather than closing down in October as previous years, the Ecdesbourne line is continuing to run trains on Saturdays in November, through to Duffield for connection with East Midlands Trains main line services.
