LLANGOLLEN Railway-based No. 7822 Foxcote Manor, a late addition to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway's September 30-October 1 -2 Autumn Gala, turned out to be the only visiting loco in an operational fleet of seven. The other locos in full operation were'Black Fives' No. 45428 Eric Treacy and No. 44767 George Stephenson, SI 5 4-6-0 No. 825, LNWR'Super D' No. 49395, Q6 No. 63395 and 9F 2-10-0 No. 92214 CockO'The North. BR4MT 2-6-0 No. 76079 appeared as Grosmont station pilot. Although reported as stopped due to increasing steam leakage from the known crack in its cylinder (a new cylinder is to be fitted this winter), the 2-6-0 had seen service around Grosmont in the run-up to the event and was deemed fit to appear in this capacity during the gala. Its turns included the novel working of the famed Bleath Gill snowplough (NER No. 18) around the station, with a degree of irony since the snow plough's appearances included one of the hottest October days on record.
