The National Railway Museum has released an image of how Flying Scotsman will look when it appears in wartime LNER black on May 28-30. At a free preview at the NRM's York site that weekend, No. 4472 will appear with the letters 'NE'on the tender side and numbers'103'on one side of the cab and'502'on the other. This will be the first time any LNER Pacific has been seen in this livery during its preserved existence. After commissioning runs in black, the A3 will be painted in its normal apple green livery.
