GCR'sbidfor £2.5m rejected

A bid by the Great Central Railway Development Company for£2.5million from the Regional Growth Fund (RM April) has been turned down. The cash was sought to kick-start the project to bridge the gap between the eight-mile Great Central Railway (Loughborough Central to Leicester North) and nine-mile Great Central Railway Nottingham (Loughborough Junction to Ruddington). GCR Development Ltd intends to reapply in the next round of RGF funding which takes place in October. Although disappointed at the decision, the company says it is "developing other opportunities."
