A bridge, a crane tank and an extension scoop HRA awards

The total reconstruction of a bridge on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at a cost of three quarters of a million pounds has won the Heritage Railway Association's top annual award. The citation in the Large Groups category reads:"For the groundbreaking civil engineering project to rebuild Bridge 30 in a hostile location, bringing together contractors, volunteers and local authorities. This project has paved the way for all heritage railways to have the confidence to carry out major civil engineering." The bridge lies in a remote location and carries the line over the Eller Beck at Darnholme, between Goathland and Grosmont.
