Middleton sells Windle

Borrows 0-4-OWT Windle (53/1909) moved from the Middleton Railway to the Ribble Steam Railway on November 25, following its sale to Dave Watkins. Windle was presented to the Middleton Railway in 1960 where it saw service between 1975 and late-1986 until joining the restoration queue. The railway took the view that the loco was built in St Helens and did not form part of its core collection of locos built in Leeds. After 24 years out of action (almost half its time at the MR), the sale also presented the best future for the loco. Moreover, it will now be at a railway close to where it was built and spent its working life.
