King Edward I sold to Royal Scot group after libel saga

The ownership of Great Western 'King' No. 6024 King Edward I changed in December. The Collett 4-6-0 - one of Britain's most popular steam locomotives - had to be sold following a High Court libel action brought against the 6024 Society by its former chairman, Steve Underhill. The decision to part with the loco was taken extremely reluctantly by the society's members at an extraordinary general meeting on December 4. An earlier e.g.m. had been held on September 11 but it is understood that procedural rules were not strictly adhered to, so a second meeting had to be called.
