Completion of repairs costing £300,000 to the lighting for the Royal Border Bridge at Berwick-upon-Tweed, saw the lights illuminated on August 23. This was the first time in 20 months that the famous bridge had been lit up. It was first illuminated in 2009 as part of the Stephenson 150 celebrations, but the original cables were then damaged by floodwater, so have been re-routed across the bridge deck, which needed Network Rail approval.
