DfT'yes and no' to LM ticket office closures

A Proposal by London Midland to close a number of ticket offices has been partly approved by the Department for Transport. The DfT has approved closure of offices at Cheddington, Lye, Witton and Wythall, but rejected the plans for Adderley Park, Bescot Stadium, Duddeston, Jewellery Quarter and Small Heath. Lye station, near Stourbridge, is currently staffed Monday-Friday for nearly 18 hours, yet only sells an average of four tickets an hour.
