€9m for Southampton and Nuneaton lines

The European Commission is to provide €5million in funding to upgrade the rail freight service from Southampton to the West Coast Main Line. It is also providing €4m for the Felixstowe to Nuneaton rail freight enhancement. The funding is part of a €200m finance package, covering 74 projects, to build a strategic transport network across Europe under the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) scheme.
