Tunnel searched for bombs

A Search for unexploded Second World War bombs is taking place in a 130-year-old tunnel that runs under the Royal Docks, East London. The Connaught tunnel, built in 1878, is on part of the planned Crossrail route and was used by North London line services until 2006. Even so, the decision has been taken to use armoured vehicles to search the tunnel for any unexploded ordnance, ahead of reconstruction work in the tunnel for Crossrail.
