Compass brings main line steam back to South port and Hooton

Compass Railtours starts its diesel-hauled 2012 charter season this month, but its news story this month is the new 'Roses Express'. This is a series of three weekly steam charters to York, starting on April 4, running from Southport, picking up at Burscough Bridge, Parbold, Wigan and Manchester Victoria. A week later, the second 'Roses Express' runs from Barrow and stations to Camforth, where the steam haulage starts, travelling via Lancaster and Preston to York.
