Thameslink completion timetable announced

A Significant step in the completion of the ￡5.5billion Thameslink project came on December 12 when the first 12-car train ran from Bedford to Brighton - the culmination of four years'work. It has been achieved by lengthening platforms at 14 stations, installing new signals and upgrading power supplies. The vast majority of work was completed overnight and at weekends to reduce disruption to passengers. First Capital Connect managing director Neal Lawson said that since 2006, an extra 3,200 peak-time seats have been added to services.
