Class 33 No. D6575 (33057) performed its first loaded test run in preservation on November 5 when it hauled Class 47 No. D1661 North Star, dead, from Bishops Lydeard to Williton. Earlier in the day theType 3 had been towed from its Williton base to Bishops Lydeard by the Type 4, allowing the loco to be positioned over the pit for a traction motor examination. The plan was to run it up and down the carriage sidings, under its own power, and then tow it back to Williton. However, when the 47 failed, it was decided to give the 33 a real test and haul the bigger engine back - which it did satisfactorily - its first working for 15 years. This was a major milestone in the five-year restoration of the loco which had been acquired in dreadful condition. It celebrated its 50th anniversary later in the month.
