Metrolink opens to East Didsburv

Manchester Metrolink has opened the South Manchester line extension from StWerburgh's Road to East Didsbury. Services began along the 2.7-mile (4.4km) line on May 23, serving new stops at Withington, Burton Road, West Didsbury, Didsbury Village, and East Didsbury. The tram line uses the trackbed of the former Midland Railway main line from Manchester Central, which closed in 1969. Trams run at a standard frequency of every 12 minutes, reducing to every 15 minutes on Sunday mornings and evenings.
