Busy time on the NNR!

The North Norfolk Railway enjoyed excellent May traffic, with passenger numbers 10-15% up on 2012 figures. Motive power shortages produced a spell when the railway was very pushed for available steam, but B12 No. 8572 still fulfilled its visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's May 24-27 gala and returned to the NNR to share running with GWR 0-6-2T No. 5619. The NNR's brief loco 'crisis' arose with the loss of David Shepherd's 9F No. 92203 Black Prince and the M&GN Society's J15 No. 7564 from the available roster. Black Prince's boiler stay problems were reported last month. Discussions on the next move have resulted in sending the 9F to LNWR Heritage in Crewe, with the intention of sufficient work being done to secure a boiler ticket, the cost of which will be recouped by steamings on the NNR.
