Bid to link Windsor's stations

Netowrk Rail has approved plans to raise funds for a proposed private railway in Windsor. The Windsor Link Railway project would build a cut-and-cover tunnel to connect the two stations in the town -Windsor & Eton Central (which is served by Paddington trains) and Windsor & Eton Riverside (which lies on the Waterloo network). Connection of the stations has been proposed before but failed to resolve the problem of them being at different levels. The Windsor Link Railway, costing between £100m-£150m, would resolve this by ignoring the existing stations and building a new one between them.
