Ivatt 2MT No. 46521 returned to Great Central Railway service on May 27, just a month after it derailed at Quorn (RM Headline News July). "Congratulations are due to Craig Stinchcombe and the loco shed team for achieving a far earlier return to service than anyone had dared predict," commented GCR general manager Richard Patching. By the end of May, the loco had clocked up several hundred miles of running following work undertaken entirely in-house at Loughborough MPD to deal with damage, particularly to the brake gear, incurred during the April 29 derailment.
