Indian extravaganza success at LBR

The Leighton Buzzard Railway s Indian Extravaganza event on May 5-6 was hugely successful, generating some 2,000 passenger journeys, well above budget projections. Page's Park station, renamed 'Darjeeling', was decorated with banners and prayer flags by the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society, with Indian food and chai (tea) sellers in evidence. A political crisis on the sub-continent caused the late cancellation of a planned visit by a VIP party led by India's Minister of State for Railways.
