Diesels haul Weardale's'Polar Express'

The Weardale Railway's'Polar Express' Christmas trains (RM Dec, p69 and 97) have proved extremely popular, with more than 24,500 bookings made by mid-November, resulting in extra trains added - an 11 -coach set, including seven hired from the Mid-Norfolk Railway, with the other four from the RMS hire fleet. Class 45 No. 45133 has been hired from the Class 45/1 Preservation Society, Midland Railway-Butterley, for these trains as it is fitted with electric train-heating generators. The 'Peak' shares duties with BARS Class 31 No. 31454, which is also heat-fitted, and with Cambrian Trains'Class 33 No. 33103 Swordfish as back-up. Trains run from November 16 through to December 30 (except Tuesdays), and December 24-26.
