Restored Butterley shunter to continue busy working life

Class 02 0-4-ODH No. D2858 has been restored to full working order at the Midland Railway-Butterley. The 28-ton loco has had a busy life, even since withdrawal by BR in 1970, following nine years use in the Manchester and Liverpool areas. Its first industrial operator was the Hutchinson Estate & Dock Co, before going to Fisons Fertilisers, Lowton Metals, and then Butterley Engineering in 1986. It made the short move to the MR-B in 2002, since when a lot of work has been needed to bring it back into service. After completion and a repaint into BR livery, it has worked back onto its old tracks at the former engineering site, which is used by the centre as an unloading area.
