The Bahamas Locomotive Society has received a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Stage 1 pass for its ￡689,000 grant application towards returning'Jubilee' No. 45596 Bahamas to steam, including main line operation. This brings ￡5,500 in development funding towards preparation of the full application, which encompasses skill development and educational support, as well as the overhaul. BLS's Steam's Last Blast Appeal - based on the May 1961 fitting of a double chimney and blastpipe to Bahamas -has already raised more than ￡180,000. The latest fundraising idea is the auction of a self-catering weekend at a house in York near the NRM.
