Etches Park open day to celebrate 'Derby 175'

To mark the 175th anniversary of railways in Derby, East Midlands Trains will be holding a charity open day at the city's Etches Park depot on September 13. It will be the first such event at the depot and proceeds will be donated to The Railway Children charity. Supporting the event will be The Railway Magazine and sister titles Heritage Railway and Rail Express, and there will be a sales stand with special offers on subscriptions and bookazines. Members of the editorial staff are likely to be present during the day. EMT will be using part of its large site as other areas of the depot will need to remain operational. The event will showcase a number of locomotives built at Derby Works or which have an association with the city, including Midland 4F 0-6-0 No. 43924, Compound 4-4-0 No. 1000, 'Peak' D4 Great Gable, Class 25 No. D7671 and the former DMU known as test car Iris.
