Charles Wytock joins Lynton & Barnstaple steam fleet

Ex-Tongaat Sugar Co Bagnall 4-4-0T Charles Wytock (2819/1946) is a Lynton & Barnstaple Railway resident following its purchase by John Heys. It was one of three Bagnalls imported from Natal, South Africa, and restored by Graeme Walton-Binns (KM Feb).The deal was completed on April 9 when the loco was collected from its Middlesbrough restoration base. Charles Wytock was initially taken to Statfold Barn, the transporter swapping loads to take the SBR's Peckett 0-6-0ST Harrogate to the South Tynedale Railway and returning with the SBR's Bagnall 4-4-0T Isibutu. The swap of SBR locos at Alston arose after Isibutu encountered problems with a tight point in the STR's yard.
