£170m investment for north-east Scotland

Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond, has announced a five-year £170million investment package of improvements for the Inverness to Aberdeen line. Platforms will be extended at Elgin and Insch to accommodate six-car DMUs. Forres station is expected to be relocated; there will be signalling improvements at Elgin; and preparatory work will be undertaken ahead of planned new stations at Kintore and Dalcross, close to Inverness airport.
