Go-ahead for trio of blue main line express locos at Didcot

The gathering of three large locomotives all in BR 1949 express blue at Didcot is going ahead. Officially dubbed Once in a Blue Moon, and fixed for April 5-6, it capitalises on A1 No. 60163 Tornado and A4 No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley making calls at Didcot between main line tours to join No. 6023 King Edward II. "No. 60007 has carried BR blue livery for the last 20 years, but this must be the first time since the 1950s that three locomotives in this livery have been seen together, let alone in steam. SNGLPT is very pleased to be part of the event," commented Nigel Wilson, chairman of the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Preservation Trust, owners of No. 60007.
