Cost of new NYMR platform at Whitby doubled as work begins

Reinstatement of a second platform at Whitby for use by North Yorkshire Moors Railway trains began on March 3. Contractor Construction Marine started clearance work prior to extending the cut-back platform and laying track, which will include a run-round loop. Part of the clearance included removal of the distinctive palm trees situated in planters between the two platforms near the bufferstop.
