Cambrian line project revival edges closer

Land that forms a vital piece of the jigsaw required to restore and reopen the railway back to Oswestry has been gifted to Cambrian Heritage Railways. The transfer is part of a deal that enables the landowner to sell the remainder of the site for redevelopment as affordable housing. The land was once part of the coal yard at Gobowen station. Gobowen, on the Shrewsbury to Chester line, was once the junction for the branch to Oswestry and Blodwell. Track remains, albeit overgrown, from a bufferstop in the old bay platform south to Oswestry.
