Five engines representing the former nationalised railway companies and BR were fielded for the final steam gala of 2015. The railway is in the remarkable position of being able to field an eclectic mix of locomotives from within its own motive power department, which was exploited at its Last Hurrah of the Season event on November 21-22. Great Northern'N2'No. 1744 Southern 'King Arthur' No. 777 Sir Lamiel LMS '5MT' No. 45305 and BR'9F'No. 92214 were tu rned out for the event, which coincided with the winter's first genuine cold snap. However, the Gresley 0-6-2T was deemed a failure on the Sunday morning, leading to a re-jig of the intensive timetable, with 'Jinty' No. 47406 being drafted in at short notice. The railway is planning to mark the 50th anniversary since the closure of the original GCR main line next September, as well as staging its traditional January and October enthusiast galas.
