One gauge only for NRM line?

Construction of the National Railway Museum's new miniature railway has been delayed. The museum is pinning high hopes on the railway for bringing in more visitors to the York site and increasing revenue. The NRM predicted a spring opening (RM Oct, p112), but tracklaying was not started until mid-May. Cromar White is carrying out the work, which is understood to have been contracted, initially at least, to confine it to 7 1/4in gauge and not dual gauge with 10 1/4in, as originally specified.
