Autumn Statement pledges cash for railways

CHANCELLOR Philip Hammond's Autumn Statement has committed more than £550million to railway projects. The largest share is £450m, to be spent on trialling digital signalling, aimed at increasing capacity and improving reliability, and stepping away from the Victorian era.
