Manchester 2CC to open early 2017

TRANSPORT for Greater Manchester has announced that track laying on its Second City Crossing (2CC) Metrolink route is complete. The line will open to passengers in early 2017. The £165million scheme will allow more trams to access and run though the city centre. Metrolink currently has seven routes converging on the city centre via Victoria station in the north, Piccadilly station in the south and St Peter's Square in the west, meaning the route through the central Piccadilly Gardens area cannot cope.
