It has been revealed that North Staffordshire Railway 0-6-2T No. 2 was given, not loaned, to the Foxfield Railway Trust. The disclosure from the National Railway Museum comes after it took the unprecedented step of de-acquisitioning a British 'main line' steam locomotive for the first time in its history. However, it did so in such a discreet manner that the official press release, issued via the Knotty Trust in April with NRM approval, failed to emphatically state that No. 2 was acquired from the national collection, rather than loaned out, as was widely believed given traditional museum practice for large exhibits.
