Crossrail stations taking shape

THERE is less than two years to go before the £14.8billion cross-London railway opens and Crossrail has released aerial images of how its central London stations are progressing. At many of the 10 new stations across the capital architectural finishes are beginning to be installed. In the tunnels, more than 75% of the permanent track has been laid and the installation of other railway systems is underway. Simon Wright, Crossrail programme director, said: "These images highlight the extent of Crossrail's progress. The new stations are now taking shape with their ticket halls that will serve hundreds of thousands of passengers every single day. "Below ground, as the fit-out of the stations continues, it's now possible to get a real sense of how they will look and feel when they open at the end of the 2018."
