First former LNER HST works on Midland Main Line for EMR

THE first of the former LNER HST sets to be transferred to East Midlands Railway entered service on May 4 following a period of staff familiarisation. Trailer set NL51 was hauled by power car Nos. 43320 and 43316. A second set began service four days later with power car No. 43238 and 43318, both sets diagrams from either Leeds or Sheffield to St Pancras. The change from the old EMR HST sets is enforced by last January's change to mobility regulations, as the original sets were non-compliant.
