THIS updated guide for 2020 reflects the many changes taking place on the national network at the current time, anticipating the introduction of many new fleets as well as the retirement of certain segments of older fleets such as Northern's Class 142s and LNERs HSTs. Unlike other publications, rolling stock is not listed by class but by train-operating company order, along with vehicle numbers, livery codes, owner codes, depots and names. There's an additional 50 or so pages in this latest guide too, partly attributable to the inclusion of Transport for London Tube and tram stock as well as other UK tramway stock (including the Isle of Man). The guide also contains listing of steam, diesel and electric rolling stock at heritage railways in a simple line-by-line format, doing away with the separate publication last year. There is a useful section on types of coupling as well as a list of depots, TOC route maps, livery codes and rolling stock exported abroad. There is even a cross-reference of vehicles to their operator.
