MIDLANDS Connect has submitted detailed plans for a £2billion investment in the West Midlands rail network to the Government. The Midlands Rail Hub would involve the construction of new and upgraded rail infrastructure between 2024 and 2033 to create capacity for an extra 24 trains per hour on the region's network, and the transfer of more than 4,000 lorry loads of freight from road to rail every day.
