MR. R. ROSTRON, of the London and North Western Railway Cashier's department, has retired after 52 years' service. He has not missed one day's service through illness; a truly remarkable record. SOME noteworthy particulars regarding the handling of American troop trains on this side of the Atlantic have just been published in a weekly newspaper. On one day in July, 19 trains, of 220 coaches, carried 10,320 men from an American camp in six hours, while as many as 25,000 troops have been entrained and transported from one town in less than five hours. A COLLISION occurred at Heaton Lodge Junction, about 3 miles from Huddersfield in the early hours of Saturday morning, September 7th. The trains were the London and North Western mail, which leaves Crewe and is due to arrive at Leeds at 2.40a.m., and a Lancashire and Yorkshire goods train on its way from Goole to Brighouse.
